If an approver sets your material to Needs change, it comes back to you. Nothing is lost: you fix what was flagged, upload a new version, and the review picks up where it left off.
Before you start
You need to be the initiator on the project, that is, the person who can upload material to it. Plan notifies you when something is sent back, and the notification links to the item.
Find out what needs changing
- Open the item, either from the notification or from the project in Approval projects.
- Read the Comments panel on the right. Each comment tells you what the approver wants changed.
- If a comment carries a number, look for the marker with the same number on the material. That is the exact spot the comment is about.
- Look at the top of the page to see which parts were sent back, the visual and EXIF data, the metadata, or both.
Upload a fixed version
- Make the changes in whatever tool the material was made in.
- Back in Plan, click Upload new version.
- Add the corrected file and click Complete upload.
Name the file carefully before you upload it. The item takes the name of the file you upload, so an item called Summer newsletter header becomes Summer newsletter header v2 if that is what the file is called.
What happens next
The version marker moves up to V2 and the status returns to Pending review, so the approvers can look again. The old comments stay in the panel, labelled with the version they were made on, so the approver can check each point off. Click Mark as resolved on the ones you have dealt with.
Compare the versions
Once there are two or more versions, comparison controls appear above the preview. They are not there for a single version, which is why you may not have seen them before.
- Single shows one version at a time.
- Vertical split and Horizontal split put the two versions side by side with a slider between them.
- Overlay lays one on top of the other. It is only available when the two versions have the same dimensions.
Material made in Produce
For creative material built in Produce, you do not upload a file. Open the material in the editor, make the requested changes and save. Saving creates a new version and the approval process starts again on that version.
