How does the Optimizely Plus Provider work?

The Optimizely Plus Provider connects Optimizely CMS with Place, allowing media stored in Place to be used within Optimizely.

It works as a content provider, so the media appears as part of the CMS experience while the original content remains stored in Place.

What versions of Optimizely CMS is supported?

Optimizely CMS version 12 or later is supported.

How is the Plus Provider installed?

The Plus Provider is added to an existing Optimizely CMS project as a NuGet package.

Can I edit Place assets in Optimizely?

No, the Plus Provider is currently read-only, so assets cannot be edited from within Optimizely. Any changes to the asset should be made in Place.

What access does my Optimizely user have in Place?

There is currently no connection between the user signed in to Optimizely CMS and users in Place. The Plus Provider uses its own pre-configured Place user to access content.

Are media files served directly from Place?

No, media files are downloaded and served by Optimizely CMS.

Which media quality or conversion is used?

For images, the quality or conversion can be defined in the Plus Provider configuration. For video files, the original file is always used.

Can I use multiple conversions of the same media file?

No, currently, only one media quality or conversion can be configured.
