Duplicate detection works by similarity.

The search module checks if the files are identical files.

Problem : Photos that are detected as duplicates during import are not detected as duplicates when using the duplicate search module.

Resolution : Two different functionalities must be distinguished :

• The detection of duplicates when importing a file

It is based on a pattern recognition algorithm. This is why the two elements used as examples are detected as duplicates at import.

• The "Duplicate search" module

The duplicate search module compares the digital signature between files to determine if the files are identical. However, for these two elements, the digital signature is very different (we checked in the database), despite the fact that the visual is identical. But these are not considered identical files.
