Installing the Papirfly Figma plugin (Beta)

Beta: the Figma plugin is in Beta. Its screens and options may still change, and this guide is updated as they do.

What the Figma plugin does

The Papirfly Produce Exporter is a Figma plugin that turns a Figma design into a template file for Produce. You design in Figma, mark up the design in the plugin, export a ZIP file, and import that file into Produce as a new template. It works the same way as the InDesign plugin, but for Figma files.

Typical uses: social media graphics, digital ads and other graphic templates that your designers already build in Figma.

Before you start

• Your Produce instance must be set up for Figma imports. This is done by Papirfly. If you have not used the plugin before, ask your Customer Success Manager to enable Figma import for your account.
• Use the Figma desktop app. During Beta the plugin cannot be installed in the browser version of Figma.
• Get the plugin file. During Beta, Papirfly sends you the plugin as a ZIP file. Ask your Customer Success Manager for the latest version.

Install the plugin

1. Unzip the plugin file to a folder you will keep, for example Documents/figma-plugin. Figma loads the plugin from this folder every time, so do not delete it.
2. Open the Figma desktop app and open a Design file. The import only works from a Design file. If a FigJam board is open instead, Figma shows an error when you select the manifest.
3. In the menu bar, go to Plugins > Development > Import plugin from manifest…
4. Select the file manifest.json in the folder you unzipped.

The plugin now appears under Plugins > Development > Papirfly Produce Exporter. It stays under Development for the whole Beta period.

Update the plugin

When Papirfly sends you a new version, unzip it and replace the contents of the plugin folder with the new files. You do not need to import the manifest again.
