Introduction
In the new release of Point 1.2 (July) you may allow users to upload directly to a Search view (search page).
Previously you had two ways to deliver assets.
- Go into the Place archive and upload there.
- Use a "custom uploader" button positioned inside navigation or on a Point page.
This new feature will allow users to deliver assets directly on the page where it should be published to.
Benefits
You may deliver assets without going inside the Place application.
Deliver assets directly where you expect them to appear.
Allow for more relatable context and clearer workflows.
Full support for the upcoming folder workflow.
How it works
To use this feature, you need the following
- Edit page rights on your user group to add the new function in Search view.
- An user group with upload rights for your users so they may upload content.
To set up, you need to go to the page where this Search view is located.
Turn on "edit" mode.
Click the cog to enter settings for the Search view.
When managing a "Search view", you now have a new button.
Turn this on and save and this new button will appear:
This new upload button is only visible for users who have the appropriate "upload" privileges trough their user groups. If you enable this, but it does not appear, contact you CSM, solution specialist or support for help.
Clicking the "upload" button will open the normal "uploader" window as you see it inside Place, but it will only allow you to upload into the archive or archives which are connected to this Search view.
(Settings in the "Search view)
(The pop-up uploader you get when clicking the upload button. Note that the "archive" selection is greyed out as the Search view is only connected to one archive)
Complete the steps as you would with any other upload and ensure you select the correct "status" before finalizing.
Additional information:
If the default "status" in your archive is submitted, users may experience that assets don't appear IF they forget to change the status to approved. You may also direct users to not select approved if you wish to do a simplified approval of the assets before publishing.
The uploader is not possible to alter. If you need reduced options in the uploader, contact your CSM, solution specialist or support and request it. It is pr now not possible to change this, but we welcome feature improvement recommendations :)
It is not possible to set required metadata or prefilled categories specifically for this uploader.
