Introduction
The quick links component is a simple and stylish way to highlight content and topics on your page. It allows you to create link buttons, much like the tiles component, but now in a more neutral and less impactful position.
The quick links component is your choice if you wish to highlight items, but don't want to allocate quite as much space as tiles require.
How to set up
You need a page template with the "Quick links" component on it.
Create a page in page admin. Make sure this page uses a page template with this component on it.
Go to the page and begin editing.
In Edit mode you gain access to the quick links options by clicking the cog underneath it.
General settings
There are fewer general settings here compared to the tiles to help keep this quick and easy. The general workflow with setting up is much the same.
- Display: Choose whether you want your buttons to be centered and in a narrower width, or full width of the page.
- Background: Background on the whole bar, behind the buttons.
- Group permissions: You may set user group access to the buttons. Important to note that if you enable this, you must set group access on each button, or they turn invisible. If enabled, this whole bar will turn invisible for "public access" users.
Individual quick link settings
- Icon: Select one of the system icons to be displayed on the button.
- BG: Select a color or image to appear on the button.
- Title: Primary text on the button.
- Subtitle: Additional text to appear on the button.
- Link: As with the tiles, you need to add a link to make it work. Link to an internal or external page, or add a download link from Place
- Target: Where does the link open? Same tab in your browser, new tab or a pop-up modal.
- Inverse: Change from dark to bright colored text and icon to contrast the background.
- Bucket: Delete the button.
- Group permissions: Allows you to decide which user groups may see each button. Note that if group permissions are enabled, any button NOT having a user group selected will become invisible. Group permission does not show any buttons to "public access" viewers.
- Save: Saves and publishes your changes immediately.
More on "group permissions:
- If you enable group permissions. Not enabling user groups on each button will cause them to become invisible to users.
- If this page is public, the whole section will be hidden for public access users. This feature can be beneficial in some cases as public users will be prohibited to seeing buttons meant for internal logged in users.
- The chosen order of your buttons may differ depending on who sees them. If a user don't have access to a button, then this button disappears and the spread of buttons will adjust.
- Turning off access to a button does NOT mean the page is inaccessible. It is important to set page access to match the button access.
Fill in one or more user group on each of the tiles and then click save to confirm your changes.
