We’ve added the ability to control external sharing at the asset level — giving teams more flexibility and control over what gets shared outside the platform.
Using the feature
This asset-level setting is linked to the archive’s external sharing rule.
- By default, this setting is set to “inherit” which means the asset will default to whatever setting is at the archive level. By default, the archive setting is set to “allow”.
- Due to the way the default values work, clients will notice no difference to the experience. Historically, assets can all be shared externally, this remains the default unless changed by administrators.
- If an archive does not allow external sharing, the asset cannot override this.
- If an archive does allow external sharing, this new setting determines whether the individual asset can be externally shared or not.
- External sharing at this time means the assets will not display in collections for external (non-logged in) users, or on public point pages.
View mode of the setting
Edit mode of the setting. Default is inherit from archive settings.
