This guide is meant as a "follow these steps and you'll have the base knowledge needed" type guide. It will not cover every button imaginable, but I will add additional references and guides if you wish to deep dive later.
Prerequisites:
- You need the rights to manage users. This is typically assigned to elevated groups like "admin" or "user management". Below you can see if this is enabled for you, or if you may be missing permissions.
- System settings access is required. If you do not find the system settings button, this may not be configured for your solution yet, or you may be missing the correct privilege level or group membership.
Where can I find the user management?
In the top right corner, you see your user drop down menu. Here you can find the old user management menu. For a time, both will be available to ease the transition. Using the old menu has no consequences, but note that most of the quality of life improvements added, will not be available there.
The new user management menu you will find inside "system settings".
Click "system settings to see the following menu
Go to "user management" and click "users".
This will now show you a list of all users in your platform. Filter on various statuses, data etc and get a birds eye view of your users.
Click "create user" to make a new user
- Here you can add information and data.
- Add user group memberships
- If enabled for your platform, it will allow you to assign units memberships
If self registration and user approval is enabled, you can find a tab for this here:
Note: to enable or disable this function for your platform, you need to go to the menu "login screen".
If you wish to see an overview over your groups and their members, go to the next tab called "groups".
This is a full list of all your groups and you can quickly see how many members each of them have. Clicking a group will show you who is member and you can export a list if you need it.
More on self registration and approvals:
In the log-in screen tab, you may enable the feature for users to self register.
Go to "log in with username and password"
Enabling "allow registration" will give you several options for how this feature should work.
Receipt email: Who will receive notifications to approve users.
Custom text: Text is a small information text which tells user they may register. Action text is the call to action. click this to open the registration form.
Custom fields:
You may add additional fields to the registration form. This information will be stored on a user in user management in a separate tab.
