Introduction
The Search viewer lets your users access Place assets, Produce templates or Documents, or Point page search directly from Point, making it much easier for you to find and download your assets. Search view lets you automatically update pages with new content when they are updated and approved across the system.
Benefits
- For general asset types or for long lasting campaigns, where assets are added to the platform over time. Search view will allow you to automatically publish assets without having to manually add them to an "asset collection".
- Search view supplies a host of filtering options, allowing users to find exactly what they need without you hand feeding it to them via deep page structures or long, complex pages.
- Download options, crop options and metadata all displayed by clicking an asset in this view

Adding a Search viewer into a page in Point
You need a page template which contains the Search view component.
Step 1: Create a search page
Create a page type with the Search view component and create a new page using this page template. Typically these page templates are called search. See information about page templates to learn more. You can also see this article to learn how to create new page templates.
Step 2: Edit mode
Once you have created a page containing this page template, go to this page and enter "edit" mode.
The search component appears empty when you first see it. We need to do some configuration to enable search
Step 3: Open Search view configurator
Click on the cog to open the configuration for Search view. (Note that the cog is always at the bottom of the component. When you have enabled search, the cog will be below the search result)
Step 4: Select source archive(s)
First thing we need to do is to select what we wish to search for.
Click inside the "search in" box to view all Place archives you have access to. Select which Place archive you wish the search to deliver assets from and click save at the bottom of the page.
- You may select multiple Place archives and you may "select all" to source all archives. "Select all" is not recommended as many solutions have a "supporting" archive which holds assets for viewing, but not necessarily for downloading.
Once you have saved, you now have a base search page with all the options available.
Step 5: Visual enhancements
If you scroll to the bottom of the search result, you can find the cog to go back into settings.
Find the "visual" tab at the top.
This space allows you to change the visuals for the Search view.
Change Title, subtitle and pick a background colour, then click save.
You now have a finished global search for assets from Place.
