Features
The base panel and most of its features look and behave the same in both Photoshop and InDesign.
Media panel
The panel shows thumbnails, file name and ID of the Place assets you have access to. The panel loads a group of assets at a time, you can scroll the panel and more assets will load in.
Search
You can use the search field in the top of the panel to search for Place assets. Type in your search text and press enter.
Filtering assets
By clicking the Filter button you can further refine your search by selecting one or more archives and/or categories.
The Filter button will indicate when a filter is active with a blue dot.
Sorting assets
You can change the sort order of displayed assets by clicking the Sort button.
More options on assets
By clicking the triple dot menu button, more options are revealed.
You can always return to the main media panel by clicking Back in the top of the other panels.
Log out
Logs out the current user from Place.
Settings
Show a settings panel, where you can adjust log level and see how much disk space the Place assets use. This space can be reclaimed by clicking Clear cache. Files will be downloaded anew from Place when required.
You can also directly open the folder containing the addon log files, for troubleshooting and support.

Asset thumbnail actions
Clicking the triple dot menu on a thumbnail reveals the possible actions. These actions differ slightly between Photoshop and InDesign.
Previewing the media asset is available in both applications, by clicking the Preview action.
This will open a larger preview of the media file, along with more asset details and metadata. You can hover over the various fields and click the Copy icon on the right side to copy any value to the clipboard. You can also directly Insert from this view.
Photoshop media actions
In Photoshop, through the thumbnail action menu, you can either Insert or Open the media asset.
Insert
By clicking the Insert action, the current media asset will be inserted into the current active document as a new layer. The new layer will be given the same name as the media asset.
Note: The Insert action requires an open active document.
(This action is also available through the Insert button in the asset details/preview panel)
Open
By clicking the Open action, the current media asset will be opened as a stand alone Photoshop document.
InDesign media actions
In InDesign, through the thumbnail action menu, you can Insert a media asset into an existing placeholder/shape.
Insert
By clicking the Insert action, the current media asset will be inserted as a link onto the currently selected placeholder/shape.
Note: The Insert action requires an open document with a selected placeholder/shape.
(This action is also available through the Insert button in the asset details/preview panel)
