There are various methods to introduce structure within Place. If you're considering adding folders to your Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, we suggest reaching out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM) first. They can help you determine if this approach aligns well with your business needs
Prerequisites
Permissions required: Users must have Folder Manager permissions within site admin to access the Folder Manager and/or create new folders in home.
Creating new folders via the Folder Manager
In order to create new folders in Place, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to Place
2. In Place, go to the settings cog in the upper-right corner.
3. Select "Folder Manager" from the dropdown.
4. Click the "Create New Folder" CTA in the top right hand corner
5. In the window, add the details of the folder and click Create as seen below
6. After clicking create, the folder will now appear in the folder manager in the location you chose.
7. You have now created a new folder
Creating new folders via the Place Interface
If a user group only needs access to manage specific folders (rather than the entire structure), they do not need Folder Manager permissions in Site Admin. Instead, they can be granted “Manage” access to specific folders directly within the Place interface. This allows them to create, edit, and manage permissions for and within those folders only.
1. Navigate to Place
2. Click to enter the folder you want to create new folders within
3. Inside the folder, if you have "manage access" permissions on that folder, you can click on the New folder symbol right next to the upload button as seen below, and a new window will appear.
4. In the window, add the details of the folder and click Create as seen below
5. After clicking create, the folder will then appear inside the folder that you are currently inside. You can then click on the folder and start uploading new assets
6. You have now created a new folder
