Introduction
Calculations are essential for handling specific numerical or budget-related operations within co-op processes. These operations can include anything from simple arithmetic to more complex budget calculations.
You can create basic calculation operations using selected elements, which include both number elements and budget elements. These elements can be combined using basic mathematical operations such as addition (plus), subtraction (minus), division (divided), and multiplication (times).
The results of specific calculations are displayed in calculation elements, which can be used in item layouts.
Accessing calculations
Granted that you have access to this section, calculations can be accessed through the settings button in the left hand sidebar as seen below.
Creating a new calculation
Creating a new calculation is done by clicking on Create new calculation in the upper right corner as seen below.
Calculation settings (when creating or editing)
Basics
| Calculation name |
Give the calculation a name to easily recognise it. This name will appear in the Template Builder, so choose a name that makes the calculation easy to identify. |
| Calculation type |
Decide if the calculation is standard of distributed. There are two calculation types:
|
Access
| <X user group> | Decide if the user group/s can see the calculation inside the campaign/s |
Calculation formula
| Group |
Allows you to create groups of calculations to prioritise, much like brackets do in regular mathematics. An example would be: (2+2) + (4+4) = 12 As you can see, it calculates the numbers inside the Groups(brackets) first. |
| Number |
Allows you to add a predefined number into the calculation. This is useful if the calculation always should include a specific number to calculate from. An example could be Specific campaign funds (Number) - varied campaign costs (Element) = Total leftover funds |
|
Element |
Allows you to add an existing element into the calculation formula. These are elements that already exist inside the Template builder. This will allow you you to take numbers from already added fields in the campaign and calculate what the results from these two is. An example could be Total campaign funds(Element) - Total campaign costs(Element) = Total leftover campaign funds |
Adding a calculation to a template
To add a calculation to a template, follow these steps:
- Click on Templates in the left hand sidebar
- Click on + Create new (to create a new template from scratch) in the upper right corner or Edit template on a existing template
- Inside the template editor, click on the Template builder tab on the top
- Search for the calculation in the Elements search bar on the right hand side. Remember to select Shared follow by Calculations
- You should then be able to click and drag the calculation into the template that you are currently creating/editing
- Remember to click save when you are done editing the template
