Introduction
Locking is a feature in both templates using a design file source and select stencils provided by the professional services team. With locking admins and designers can control what editability elements and controls have for regular business users during template customization.
Locking Modes
There are several locking modes available to admins. They can be selected from the Edit locking palette available on side menu.
- Edit as content creator - In this mode you will edit the template as if it were a document by a regular business user.
- Edit as template designer - In this mode you will edit the template as if it were a document by an admin. As an admin you may have access to additional controls and elements unavailable to regular business users.
- Edit locking - In this mode you can set the editability of elements and controls for regular business users.
Edit Locking
To edit locking for elements and controls, select Edit locking option from the Edit locking menu on the side palette.
Locking Elements
For each element that can be positioned and sized by an admin, there will be a locking icon. When this is green the element is unlocked. When red the item is locked. This will only affect the element's editability in its size and position.
This can also be changed from the element's side palette menu.
Locking Content
Depending on the element type, you can lock additional properties about its content. For text elements this could be the text itself, while for image elements this could be the image itself, image source (e.g. archive, folder, category), and image scaling. Again these options will vary depending on the element type and the business logic in the stencil.
Locking Controls
Controls on the side palette can be locked too! The depth of locking options will change depending on the level (e.g. document, page, element), control type (e.g. button, dropdown), and business logic in the stencil.
Lock a Control Group
For controls that have been grouped together, a box will surround the controls part of the group. Toggling the locking will lock or unlock the entire group and all controls within.
Locking a Control
Individual controls can be locked. This will set option to the current selection and hide the control from regular business users.
Locking Control Options
For some controls, the individual options can be locked. This will show the control to regular business users and limit the available options that be be selected. Only those options that are unlocked (green) will be available to regular business users.
