Produce - Layers (InDesign Import)

Introduction

When editing a template, it may be helpful and necessary to see all the elements and how they are ordered on top of each other using the layer palette.  The position of each element in the stacking order is also known as the z-index.

Viewing Layers

To view the layer palette simply select Layers from the side palette menu.  This will display a list of all elements in order of their z-index.

View Hidden Layers

You can also view hidden layers which cannot be modified by clicking the All elements toggle.  Layers that cannot be modified are slightly grayed-out with the label in italics.

Selecting Layers

You can select layers simply by click on them.  This will also highlight the element in the canvas.  You can renamed layers by selecting Rename from the ellipsis menu (...)

Moving Layers

Moving layers can be down by clicking and holding the layer's tile and dragging and releasing in the desired position.  You can also use the ellipsis menu (...) to select from the following options:

• Move to top
• Move up
• Move down
• Move to bottom
