Template Designers may build multiple versions (new pages/”layouts”) of a single-page template.
Content creators may adjust the size (up to certain limits) when creating new documents.
These options are made available via the Plugin "Template settings" - within the section "Dynamic layouts" at the bottom:
If the setting "Enable dynamic layouts" is set, the template admin can generate new layouts in the Editor post import. If the second setting "Allow Content Creators to define dynamic layouts" is set, the Content creator can create new layouts as well - up to certain limits (see more information below).
The Workflow (Template admin)
If your original InDesign file is an for example an A5 landscape, the Template designer can:
Select "New Layout" from the menu.
Choose a different page size (e.g., A5 portrait).
Automatically generate a new page/layout where elements are roughly positioned for the new dimensions.
Fine-tune the design by moving or resizing elements to perfection.
The Workflow (Content Creator)
Selection: A window pops up asking the user to pick a starting layout (e.g., A5 Landscape vs. A5 Portrait).
Adjustment: Users can then fine-tune the dimensions within these safe limits:
Overall Aspect Ratio: Up to a 10% change is allowed.
Horizontal Flexibility: We allow a larger margin of 20–25% if the adjustment is made along the width (X-axis).
Vertical Constraint: Changes to the height (Y-axis) are more strictly limited to prevent layout distortion. For example, resizing from 100 x 100 to 120 x 100 is permitted, but a similar stretch on the vertical axis is not.
