Introduction
Produce AI Translate uses artificial intelligence (AI) to translate existing text in a document to another language.
Availability
The AI Translate feature is currently only available for stencils provided by Papirfly professional services. If you would like this feature included in your stencils and templates, please speak with your customer success manager regarding eligibility and pricing.
AI Translate uses Amazon Transcribe, a part of Amazon Web Services (AWS). The following articles provided details to commonly asked questions about the service:
Setting the Target Language
The target language used for text translation is determined by the document language. To set this, open the Document palette from the side menu and select the desired language from the Language control.
Translating a Document
Whole Document Translation
When in the Produce editor, select the Document palette from the side menu, then click the Translate button from the AI Assistant.
From the Translate dialog select the language to translate from and then click the Confirm button.
Depending on the size of the document, applying the translations with take a few seconds to a few moments. Once complete, the Translate dialog will close and translated text will be visible.
Limiting Page Selection
If you don't wish to translate an entire document, you can limit pages translated by selecting Selection from the Pages control in the Translate dialog. You will then be able to click Select pages and choose the design pages for translation from the selector.
Translating a Text Element
You can translate each text element individual by focusing on the desired text element and clicking the Translate button. The translate process is similar to that of translating the document.
Misc
Text Formatting
Please note text formatting on individual characters or spans of characters is not preserved when translating. You will need to apply text formatting to text as desired after translation is complete.
Omitting Text Elements from Translation
If there are specific text elements you do not want to be included in document translation, you can select each text element and turn off smart actions.
Undo/Redo Translations
Any translation action is included in the undo/redo history. If any translation result is undesirable, you can simple click the Undo button or press the hotkey combination CTRL + Z. To redo the translation action click the Redo button or press the hotkey combination CTRL + Y.
Custom Translations for Keywords
If you have keywords that have specific translations or should not be translated, for example your business name or product names, these can be defined in advanced in used to provide better translations of your content. Please provide a list of words and their translations for each language to the professional services team, and these will be added to the stencil business logic.
