Introduction
We’re putting the power back in your hands. Every archive in your DAM should be tailored to the type of content it holds—and now, it can be. With Archive Settings, you can define rules and configurations that make each archive work exactly the way your teams need. Whether it’s a video-only archive for campaign footage or a secure space for internal documentation, Archive Settings let you keep things clean, relevant, and easy to manage.
Benefits
- Keep each archive focused and clutter-free
- Improve searchability by limiting irrelevant uploads
- Enforce content-specific rules that match your workflow

Settings
External Sharing
Control what stays inside—and what can be shared beyond.
With the External Sharing & Direct Links setting, you decide whether assets in a specific archive can be shared outside your organisation. This gives you greater control over visibility and access, especially for sensitive or internal-only content.
How it works
Once enabled, you can:
- Allow or restrict external sharing for an entire archive
- Enable or disable the creation of direct link access for assets
- Prevent users from copying or distributing share links to content that should stay internal
If external sharing is disabled, users who are not logged in will no longer see these assets in public Point pages or via collections.
You’ll find the option in the Archive Settings panel, where you can apply external sharing rules per archive.
Allowed File types
With the Allowed File Types setting, you can define exactly which file formats are permitted in each archive. This helps you keep content relevant, prevent clutter, and avoid unsupported or off-brand uploads.
Whether you’re creating a video-only archive, a design file workspace, or a document repository, this setting makes sure your archives stay clean and purposeful.
How it works
Navigate to the Place Settings through the cogwheel inside your Place DAM.*
- Specify which file types (e.g. .mp4, .jpg, .pdf, .docx, etc.) are allowed for upload in each archive
- Block unsupported or irrelevant file types from being added
- Create archives that are tailored to specific use cases or teams
Users attempting to upload unsupported file types will receive a clear message letting them know which formats are allowed.
