This release makes it faster and easier to find the right asset in Place, with smarter, access-aware search suggestions and more direct control over how your images crop automatically.
Smarter Search Suggestions
Searching in Place just got faster and more reliable. As you type, you'll now see a single dropdown combining text suggestions and visual results, drawn live from the same access-controlled index that powers your search results.
What's new:
- Suggestions are now access-filtered, so you'll only ever see folders and assets you actually have permission to open — no more dead-end searches
- The dropdown shows matching text terms at the top, and matching folders and assets underneath — each with a thumbnail, title, ID and file type
- Suggestions are generated live from the same index as your search results, so they'll never go out of date
- The part of your search term that matched is shown in bold, so it's clear why each suggestion appeared
Why it matters: You'll get to the right asset faster, and you'll never be shown a suggestion you're not allowed to open.
Set an Image's Focus Point from the Asset Detail Page
You can now set an image's focus point directly from its asset detail page, without needing to go through the asset variants flow.
The focus point tells Place which part of an image to keep in view when it's automatically cropped for variants and thumbnails, so a face or logo is never cut off.
What's new:
- Open any image asset's detail page, select More (…) and choose Change focus point
- Drag the marker on the image, or enter exact X / Y percentages — both stay in sync as you adjust
- Saving applies the new focus point everywhere the asset is automatically cropped
Important notes:
- Available for image assets only, and only to users with permission to manage asset variants
