September 2026: Unit Manager

Every Papirfly account is built on a structure behind the scenes: the regions, brands, franchises, dealers, or teams that decide who sees what across Plan, Produce, and Place. Until now, that structure was set up and maintained for you by your Papirfly team. We're introducing Unit Manager, a new app that puts this structure directly in your hands, so you can build it, adjust it, and grow it yourself, whenever you need to.

What it does

• Lets you build your own organisational hierarchy: define the levels you need, whether that's Country, Region, Dealer, or anything specific to your business, and how they connect to each other.
• Gives you self-service control over setup: define the information each unit carries, which field identifies users through single sign-on, and which one shows up as the unit's name in Produce, Plan Approvals, Plan Campaigns, Prove, and User Management.
• Lets you assign user groups automatically across a whole level of your structure, or make them available so an admin can switch them on unit by unit.
• Includes built-in guard rails, so you can't accidentally delete a unit that still has other units depending on it.

How it works

Unit types and units. A unit type is a category in your structure, for example Country. The units inside it are the actual entries, such as Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. There's no fixed number of levels: you decide the depth that fits your organisation. Every unit type connects to exactly one parent, all the way up to a single root, so your structure always forms one clear tree rather than a scattered set of disconnected pieces. 

Attributes. Each unit type has its own set of attributes: the fields every unit of that type carries, such as name, description, location, or a contact number. For each attribute, you decide whether it's the one single sign-on matches users against, whether it's shown as the unit's name in Produce, Plan Approvals, Plan Campaigns, Prove, and User Management, whether it's required, and whether it appears in the user profile list. You can also add graphic attributes, picked directly from Place, so the image stays linked to its original source instead of being duplicated.

User groups. Every unit type can have user groups attached to it: either assigned automatically to everyone in that unit type, with no way to opt out, or made available so an admin can switch them on per unit.

Creating and managing units. Creating a unit means picking its unit type, filling in the attributes, choosing where it sits in your structure, setting an expiry date if needed, and adding users. Because a user can belong to more than one unit, adding someone to a new unit will always ask whether to keep their existing assignments or replace them. If a user's single sign-on details don't map to a specific unit, they land in a default unit that you designate, so no one is left without access while things get sorted out.

How this connects to the rest of Papirfly. Produce, Plan Approvals, Plan Campaigns, and User Management use your unit structure to control access and to display each unit's name. Prove reports against your own structure. Single sign-on maps users into the right unit through the attribute you've chosen as the identifier.

Unit Manager is being rolled out gradually. Your Papirfly contact will reach out to walk you through setting up your structure and getting your team access, so there's nothing you need to do on your end yet.
