Produce allows you to add images, videos, and other media to your documents using assets stored in Place or files uploaded directly from your device.
Supported file types may vary depending on the Produce module and the type of element being used.
How do I add images and videos from Place?
Assets uploaded to Place can be made available for use in Produce templates and documents.
When editing a document, you can use the asset selector to browse and select content from the Place archives available to you. This makes it easy to reuse approved brand assets across multiple documents without needing to upload them each time.
Note: Asset availability may vary between templates depending on the settings configured by an administrator. Templates can be restricted to specific Place archives or categories, meaning some assets may not be available for selection.
Which file formats are supported in Produce?
Produce supports a range of image, video, and audio formats. Files stored in Place can be automatically converted (transcoded) into compatible formats when needed.
The following file formats can be selected for use in supported Produce elements:
| Asset type | Supported file formats |
|---|---|
| Images | JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF (single frame), TIFF, PDF, SVG |
| Videos | MP4, M4V, MOV, MPG (MPEG), AVI, WMV, MKV, VOB, FLV |
| Audio | MP3, WAV, WMA, M4A |
Note: Not all file formats are supported in every Produce module or element. Some files may require conversion before they can be used.
Can I use PDF pages in Produce documents?
Yes. For longer print documents, Produce templates can be configured to include existing PDF pages alongside pages created in the editor.
These PDF pages are included as they are, preserving their original content and quality.
This functionality must be configured as part of the template setup.
Can I use vector files such as SVG, AI, or EPS?
Vector files are handled differently depending on the file format and how they are used.
- SVG: Can be selected as an image through Place and converted into a compatible format for use in standard image elements.
- PDF: Can be converted into an image for use in image elements, or included as complete pages in supported print templates.
- AI and EPS: Not supported for direct use in Produce image elements.
Produce also supports dedicated Path and SVG elements for working with vector graphics.
These require additional configuration during stencil development and can support features such as dynamic colors, scaling, and other custom behavior.
If you have specific requirements for vector graphics, please discuss these with your Papirfly team.
Can I upload images and videos directly into Produce?
Yes! You can upload images and videos directly from your computer when editing a Produce document, provided the template allows it.
Keep in mind:
- Files uploaded directly into Produce are only available within that specific document.
- These files are not automatically added to Place.
- If you want to use the same file in another document, you'll need to upload it again.
Tip: For assets that will be reused across multiple documents, we recommend uploading them to Place first.
Can Produce use assets from external Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems?
Produce does not directly integrate with external DAM platforms.
However, assets from external systems can be made available through Papirfly Plus (integrations), which supports processing content for use across the Papirfly product suite.
For more information about integration options, please contact your Papirfly team.
