Comparing versions with AI
When material comes back with changes, AI Version comparison finds the differences between two versions for you. It highlights each change on the material, describes it, and shows how significant the changes are overall.
The comparison is available once the material has at least two versions.
Start a comparison
- Open the material from the project list.
- Select Compare versions.
- Use the Version A and Version B selectors to choose the two versions. By default, Version A is the previous version and Version B is the latest. You can pick any two versions from the history.
- If the material has several pages, select the pages to compare on each version.
- Wait for the comparison to finish. Version B opens with the differences highlighted.
Review the changes
- Look at the highlighted areas on Version B. Each one marks a difference the AI found.
- Select a highlight to read its comment. The comment describes the change and shows its category.
- Check the Comparison severity index to see how significant the changes are overall.
- Approve or reject the material in the usual way.
What do the change categories mean?
Each highlight belongs to one category:
- Typography: font, text size or text styling has changed.
- Color: a colour has changed.
- Layout: an element has moved, been resized or rearranged.
- Content: text or an image has been replaced or edited.
- Missing element: something from Version A is no longer in Version B.
What does the severity index tell me?
The Comparison severity index sums up all differences between the two versions:
- Low: few or minor changes.
- Medium: several changes or changes that are easy to notice.
- High: many or major changes.
Use it to decide how closely you need to check the new version.
Does the AI approve or reject the material?
No. The comparison are there to help you. They don’t approve, reject or move the material to the next stage. The decision is always yours.
Can I edit or remove a highlight?
No. Highlights and their comments are created by the AI and can’t be edited or dismissed. To give feedback on the material, add your own comment as usual.
Which files can be compared?
- Images and vector files from Place.
- Static documents and banners from Produce.
Video, spreadsheets and files that can’t be previewed in Plan Approvals can’t be compared.
Why can’t I see Compare versions?
Check the following:
- The material has at least two versions.
- The file type is supported.
- You have the Reviewer or Initiator role on the material.
- AI Version comparison is turned on for your company. If not, contact your admin.
How does an admin turn on AI Version comparison?
- Open Plan Approvals settings.
- Turn on AI Version comparison.
- If your company hasn’t signed off AI usage yet, read the agreement in the sign-off dialog and confirm.
- Save the settings.
The sign-off is needed only once per company and covers all Papirfly products. If your company already signed off in Place, you won’t be asked again. The person signing off needs the Manage AI agreement privilege. The sign-off can’t be reversed.
