Video gets reviewed in Plan like anything else, with one difference that matters: you can pin a comment to a moment in the timeline, so the approver can say exactly where the problem is.
Getting a video into a review
There are two routes, and they meet as soon as the video is in the project.
A finished video file. Upload it to the Place archive the approval project is connected to. The archive header reads Connected to Plan when it feeds one. See Uploading an asset for approval.
A video built in Produce. No file changes hands. The template is wired to a Plan project and the video is sent from Produce itself, as described in Getting Produce material into an approval project. Note that a Produce video has to have its assets generated before it can be sent, which takes a moment while the video renders.
Video formats the archive accepts
mp4, avi, webm, mpeg, mpg, mov, wmv, mkv, m4v, mts, vob and flv. The full list of accepted file types is shown at the top of the Place Uploader whenever you upload.
What the review screen gives you
Open the video from the project list. The review screen is built around a player: transport controls, loop, mute, volume, a resolution selector and fullscreen, with a scrubber underneath.
A video review has no Visual, EXIF or Metadata toggles, because a video has no metadata to review. The version selector, the status control and the Comments panel work exactly as they do for an image.
Comment on a moment
- Play or scrub to the point you want to talk about.
- Click Add time above the comment box. The current position appears as a chip.
- To cover a stretch rather than a single frame, click Add timeframe and set the range.
- Type the comment and click Add comment.
The posted comment carries its timestamp, and your avatar appears on the scrubber at that point, so anyone reading the review can jump straight to what you meant.
Approve, reject or send it back
From here the video follows the same path as any other material. The approver uses the status control in the top right, and at least one comment is needed before asking for changes or rejecting.
