We've added a new Business Card data source. It works much like the existing Current User source — exposing the usual contact fields such as name, job title, organization, email, phone, website and address — but instead of pulling the details from the server for the logged-in user, the values are entered directly in the editor. This makes it the right choice whenever you want to populate a business card by hand rather than from a user's profile. As with any data source, the usual permission controls (Editable, Required, Change Required) apply to each field.
We've also refreshed how this works on QR Codes, with a cleaner design and a new live preview of the business card. While editing, you now see a formatted contact card right in the panel, showing exactly what the QR Code will contain before the document is generated — no need to scan the code to check.
The Template admin uses the new functionality by adding a variable and connecting it to the "Business Card" data source:
In the setting "Populate from Variable" they may select "Blank Business Card", which gives them the option to either enter the values manually themselves, or let the content creator fill it out once they use the template to create a document:
The option to automatically populate the fields based on the current signed in user is still available, by selecting "Current user":
